PLA(2k)-PEG(5k)-COOH combines a hydrophobic racemic PLA block with a hydrophilic PEG block bearing a carboxyl group. With an activating agent such as HATU or EDC, the carboxyl group can couple to an amine to produce a stable amide linkage.
