DBCO-PEG4-Gly-Gly-Gly is a water-soluble substrate for sortase-mediated protein labeling, also known as sortagging. This process uses sortase-catalyzed transpeptidation between a protein recognition sequence and the N-terminal amine of triglycine. The resulting DBCO-bearing protein conjugates can undergo further modification with azide-containing molecules to create site-specific conjugates.
