Ricinelaidic acid is a 12-hydroxy fatty acid cataloged among lipid carboxylic acids and lipid synthons. It antagonizes leukotriene B4 (LTB4) receptors, with Ki = 2 µM in porcine neutrophil membranes. In isolated human neutrophils, it inhibits LTB4-induced chemotaxis and calcium flux, with IC50s = 10 and 7 µM, respectively.
In rats, Ricinelaidic acid (1 mg/kg, i.v.) inhibited LTB4-induced bronchoconstriction by 46%. Its molecular formula is C18H34O3, and the listed storage condition is -20°C.
