CbzNH-PEG1-CH2CH2NH2 is an amino PEG linker containing a free amine and a Cbz-protected amine. Its PEG1 unit increases molecular hydrophilicity. The free amine can react with carboxylic acids, activated NHS esters and carbonyl compounds such as ketones and aldehydes. Hydrogenolysis removes the Cbz protection to expose an additional free amine.
