Boc-NH-PEG12-COOH is a PEG derivative with a Boc-protected amine at one terminus and a carboxylic acid at the other. The carboxylic acid can form an amide bond with primary or secondary amines under EDC, DCC, HATU or other amide coupling conditions. Mild acidic deprotection removes the Boc group to expose a free amine for subsequent coupling with carboxylic acid-bearing biomolecules.
