HZ-PEG-HZ, also known as Hydrazide-PEG-Hydrazide, is a hydrazide-functionalized PEG used to modify carbohydrates, proteins, peptides, particles and surfaces. Its hydrazide groups react with aldehydes or ketones to form pH-sensitive acylhydrazone linkages, supporting reversible PEGylation and dynamic crosslinking.
Applications include biomolecular conjugation, particle surface functionalization and medical device modification. PEGylation with this material can increase protein and peptide solubility and stability, reduce immunogenicity, and limit nonspecific binding of charged molecules to modified surfaces.
