4-ArmPEG-Mal is a four-arm PEG derivative built around a pentaerythritol core, with thiol-reactive maleimide groups at the arm termini. At pH 6.5–7.5, these groups undergo Michael addition with sulfhydryl-containing molecules to form stable thioether bonds.
