PtdIns-(3)-P1 (1,2-dioctanoyl), sodium salt is a synthetic phosphatidylinositol analog with octanoyl (C8:0) fatty acids at the sn-1 and sn-2 positions. Its inositol and diacylglycerol portions retain the stereochemistry of the natural counterpart. Phosphatidylinositol-specific kinases can further phosphorylate the compound to generate phosphoinositides such as PtdIns-P2 (PIP2) and PtdIns-P3 (PIP3), which participate in cellular signaling and regulation. The molecular formula is C25H46Na2O16P2, and the molecular weight is 710.6.
