DREADD agonist 21 dihydrochloride is a research reagent for chemogenetic studies of neuronal activity involving hM3Dq and hM4Di DREADDs. It is reported to act selectively on these engineered receptors without affecting hM3, with weaker affinity for histamine H1, serotonin 5-HT2A, 5-HT2C, and α1A-adrenergic receptors. The compound penetrates the brain for in vivo studies. This dihydrochloride salt is soluble in water and DMSO and is intended for laboratory research only.
