16:0 Lysyl PG is a lysyl phosphatidylglycerol (LPG) categorized under Lipid-PEG, Phospholipid, and Phosphoglycerol. In gram-positive bacteria, LPG is formed when multiple peptide resistance factors (MprF) modify phosphatidylglycerol by adding lysine residues on the inner cytoplasmic membrane leaflet, then translocate the modified lipid to the outer leaflet. This modification is associated with resistance to cationic antimicrobial peptides.
