- Description
SH-PEG-NH2.HCl is a linear heterobifunctional PEGylation reagent with a thiol group and an amine moiety, also referred to as Thiol-PEG-Amine.HCl. The amine forms stable amide bonds with carboxyl groups and reactive NHS esters at pH 7–8.5, while the thiol reacts with maleimide to form thioether bonds at pH 6.5–7.5 and exhibits high affinity for gold surfaces. It is used to modify proteins, peptides, small molecules, and gold-based materials, and PEGylation can improve solubility and stability, reduce immunogenicity of proteins and peptides, and inhibit non-specific binding of charged molecules on modified surfaces.
