SH-PEG12-COOH is a PEG linker bearing a thiol group and a terminal carboxylic acid, separated by a hydrophilic spacer that improves aqueous solubility. The thiol reacts with maleimide, OPSS and vinylsulfone groups and interacts with metal surfaces such as gold and silver. The carboxylic acid can form stable amide bonds with primary amines using activators such as EDC or HATU. Applications include bioconjugation and the preparation of gold nanoparticle conjugates for neuroimaging and drug delivery research.
