SH-PEG2-COOH, also called Thiol-PEG2-acid, is a PEG derivative with terminal thiol (-SH) and carboxylic acid (-COOH) groups. The thiol functionality reacts with maleimide, OPSS and vinylsulfone groups, as well as transition metal surfaces such as gold and silver. The carboxylic acid provides a separate coupling site for primary amines; activators such as EDC or HATU enable formation of a stable amide bond.
