IR-117-17 (solution in ethanol) contains an ionizable, cationic and biodegradable amino lipid used in lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations. It is cataloged within the ionizable lipid range.
In mouse studies, nebulized LNPs containing IR-117-17, 1,2-dioleoyl-2-trimethylammoniumpropane (1,2-DOTAP) and other components carried reporter mRNA and produced luciferase luminescence in the lungs and nasal passages. Related nebulized formulations carrying Cre mRNA produced Cre expression in large and small airway cells, alveolar macrophages and epithelial cells in Ai14 mice.
