Fmoc-NH-PEG6-CH2COOH combines an Fmoc-protected amine with a terminal carboxylic acid on a hydrophilic PEG spacer that increases aqueous solubility. Basic conditions remove the Fmoc protecting group to expose a free amine for subsequent conjugation. The carboxylic acid provides a separate coupling site, forming a stable amide bond with primary amines when activated with reagents such as EDC or HATU.
