Mal-PEG-SCM is a linear heterobifunctional PEG crosslinking reagent with a maleimide group at one end and a succinimidyl carboxymethyl NHS ester at the other. The PEG spacer connects two distinct reactive groups: maleimide reacts with thiols, while the NHS ester reacts with primary amines.
