Aminooxy-PEG4-CH2CO2tBu combines an aminooxy group with a t-butyl-protected carboxyl group through a hydrophilic PEG spacer that increases solubility in aqueous media. The aminooxy functionality supports bioconjugation by reacting with aldehydes to form oxime bonds; with a reductant, a hydroxylamine linkage can be formed. Hydrolysis of the protected carboxyl group yields a free acid.
