DOPE-PEG-Azide, MW 2,000 combines a phospholipid with covalently attached, polydisperse PEG. Hydrophobic fatty acid chains and a hydrophilic PEG segment give the conjugate an amphiphilic character that supports lipid bilayer or micelle formation in water. The azide functionality reacts with alkynes to produce a triazole ring, providing a conjugation handle. This phospholipid–PEG reagent can be used in preparing liposomes or nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery research.
