DOPE-PEG-Azide, MW 3,400 combines a polydisperse PEG chain with a covalently attached phospholipid. Hydrophobic fatty acid chains and a hydrophilic PEG segment give the conjugate amphiphilic character, supporting lipid bilayer or micelle formation in water.
This azide-functionalized lipid PEG can be used to prepare liposomes or nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery research. Its azide group reacts with an alkyne to form a triazole ring.
