Mal-PEG-NH2.HCl is a linear PEG derivative supplied as a hydrochloride salt, with a maleimide group at one end and an amino group at the other. These terminal groups support its use as a crosslinking reagent and spacer for bioconjugation and surface modification.
The maleimide reacts with thiol groups by Michael addition at pH 6.5–7.5 to form stable C–S bonds, while the terminal amine can couple with carboxylic acids or activated esters.
