- Description
Oleandrin is a lipid-soluble cardiac glycoside with potential antineoplastic activity. Its reported activity includes selective binding to and inhibition of the α3 subunit of Na/K-ATPase in cancer cells, accompanied by Akt inhibition, MAPK upregulation, NF-κB suppression and reduced FGF-2 export. It also downregulates mTOR and reduces p70S6K and S6 protein expression, with these effects leading to apoptosis.
