Sulfo TCO-Maleimide is a water-soluble, sulfhydryl-reactive reagent used to introduce TCO moieties onto cysteine-containing peptides and other thiol-bearing molecules. Its maleimide group selectively couples with reduced thiols at pH 6.5-7.5 to produce stable thioether bonds. A hydrophilic sulfonated spacer supports water solubility, while the short spacer limits added mass. Listed solvent solubilities also include DMSO, DCM, DMF.
