mPEG-DSPE is a linear PEG–phospholipid conjugate combining hydrophilic PEG with hydrophobic saturated C18 stearoyl chains. It belongs to the lipid PEG and methoxy PEG families and is used to prepare stealth liposomes and micelles for drug delivery research.
Applications include drug solubility enhancement and the development of PEGylated carriers with longer blood circulation times and improved encapsulated-drug stability. Targeted delivery systems may incorporate surface ligands such as antibodies or peptides.
