Hydroxy-PEG4-acid sodium salt is a PEG linker with a hydroxyl group and a terminal carboxyl group in sodium salt form. The salt provides storage stability compared with the free acid, which can polymerize through reaction between its hydroxyl and carboxylic acid groups.
The carboxyl functionality supports amide formation with primary amines using activators such as EDC or HATU. The hydroxyl group offers a separate site for derivatization or conversion to other reactive groups, while the hydrophilic PEG spacer increases aqueous solubility. Recommended storage is -20°C.
