18-(Amine-PEG3-ethylcarbamoyl)heptadecanoic-t-butyl ester is a PEG linker combining an amine group with an alkane tail terminated by a t-butyl ester. The amine provides a reaction site for carboxylic acids, activated NHS esters and carbonyl compounds such as ketones and aldehydes. Acidic conditions can remove the t-butyl protecting group.
This lipid-PEG reagent can spontaneously form micelles in water and may be used to prepare more complex lipids for drug-delivery nanoparticles. It is soluble in DMSO, DCM and DMF and has a stated purity of 95%.
