20-(Amine-PEG3-ethylcarbamoyl)nonadecanoic-t-butyl ester combines an amine-functional PEG linker with an alkane tail bearing a t-butyl ester. The amine provides a reaction site for carboxylic acids, activated NHS esters and carbonyl compounds such as ketones and aldehydes. Acidic conditions can remove the t-butyl protecting group.
