- Description
1-Palmitoyl-2-Pyropheophorbide a-sn-glycero-3-PC is a phospholipid–porphyrin conjugate comprising phosphatidylcholine with palmitic acid at the sn-1 position and the photosensitizer pyropheophorbide a at the sn-2 position. It is cataloged among fluorescent and helper lipids.
In PC3-Luc6 cells, lipid nanoparticles containing this conjugate and FAM-labeled siRNA dissociate under near-infrared irradiation. The conjugate subsequently enters endolysosomal membranes and generates reactive oxygen species, disrupting those membranes and enabling siRNA release into the cytosol. These observations describe its use in light-responsive lipid formulation research.
