SY-9 Azide is a nonfluorescent acceptor dye used in peptide FRET probe preparation. Its broad, intense quenching range of 500-600 nm supports pairing with dyes that emit within this range. It is described as more hydrophilic than SY-7 and is soluble in DMSO, DMF.
The azide group enables coupling to terminal alkynes by copper-catalyzed click chemistry (CuAAC). It also reacts with strained cyclooctynes through copper-free click chemistry, forming a stable triazole without a copper catalyst or elevated temperatures.
