SY-7 Azide is a nonfluorescent acceptor dye for preparing peptide and oligonucleotide fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) probes. It has a broad, intense quenching range of 500-600 nm and can be paired with fluorescent dyes at 520 nm to 600 nm.
The azide group reacts with terminal alkynes through copper-catalyzed click chemistry (CuAAC). Reaction with strained cyclooctyne provides a copper-free route to a stable triazole without elevated temperatures. The dye is soluble in DMSO and DMF and is cataloged as an azide quencher for click chemistry.
