SY-21 Azide is a nonfluorescent acceptor dye used to prepare peptide and oligonucleotide fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) probes. Its broad quenching range extends from 580 nm to 680 nm, supporting use with fluorescent donors in this range.
The azide group enables conjugation to terminal alkynes through copper-catalyzed click chemistry (CuAAC). It also reacts with strained cyclooctynes to form a stable triazole without a copper catalyst or elevated temperatures. The dye is soluble in DMSO and DMF.
