Fmoc-PEG1-NHS ester combines an Fmoc-protected amine with an NHS ester through a hydrophilic PEG spacer that increases aqueous solubility. Its NHS ester supports labeling of primary amines (-NH2) on proteins, amine-modified oligonucleotides and other amine-bearing molecules. Basic conditions remove the Fmoc protecting group to expose a free amine for subsequent conjugation, making this reagent part of the Fmoc PEG and PEG NHS ester linker families.
