Mal-amido-PEG7-acid is a maleimide PEG linker with a terminal carboxylic acid and a hydrophilic PEG spacer that increases solubility in aqueous media. The maleimide group forms a covalent bond with thiols, allowing attachment to thiol-bearing biomolecules. With an activator such as EDC or HATU, the carboxylic acid reacts with primary amines to form a stable amide bond. These two functional groups support coupling through thiol and amine reaction sites.
