Thiol-PEG12-acid is a PEG linker bearing a thiol group and a terminal carboxylic acid. Its thiol functionality reacts with maleimide, OPSS and vinylsulfone groups, as well as metal surfaces including gold and silver. With activators such as EDC or HATU, the carboxylic acid can couple to primary amines to form stable amide bonds. The hydrophilic PEG spacer supports solubility in aqueous media.
