Thiol-PEG3-acid is a PEG linker combining a thiol group with a terminal carboxylic acid. Its hydrophilic PEG spacer increases solubility in aqueous media. The thiol reacts with maleimide, OPSS and vinylsulfone groups, as well as transition metal surfaces such as gold and silver. With activators such as EDC or HATU, the carboxylic acid can couple to primary amines to form a stable amide bond.
