Fmoc-9-aminononanoic acid is an aliphatic linker bearing a terminal Fmoc-protected amine and a carboxylic acid group. It is used in PROTAC synthesis and other conjugation work where these functional groups provide sites for sequential modification.
Basic conditions remove the Fmoc protecting group to expose a free amine for further conjugation. The carboxylic acid can couple with primary amines using activators such as EDC or HATU to form an amide bond.
