Fmoc-N-amido-PEG4-acid combines an Fmoc-protected amine with a terminal carboxylic acid on a hydrophilic PEG spacer that supports aqueous solubility. Basic conditions remove the Fmoc protection, exposing an amine for subsequent conjugation. The carboxylic acid can be coupled to primary amines using activators such as EDC or HATU to form a stable amide bond.
